The market town of Poulton is pretty in its own right, and perfectly placed to enjoy the whole of the Fylde Coast.
If you’re a resident of the Fylde Coast you’ll know Poulton – a small but well appointed town centre with a local market on a Monday each week in the market square.
There’s plenty of car parking – free on the large Teanlowe car park thanks to an arrangement with supermarket Booths – plus Pay and Display in near by town centre car parks.
Residents of Wyre can of course purchase a residents parking pass and enjoy two hours of free parking in qualifying car parks – not just in Poulton but across the borough each day.
There are a number of large and small events held throughout the year in Poulton – both in the town centre and around and about.
St Chad’s Church stands in the centre of the town – a pretty spot with renowned displays of swathes of purple crocus each spring – and somewhere to sit peacefully and enjoy an ice cream or a minute of contemplation in the sunshine.
St Chad’s is often the focus of local events – like Poulton Christmas Festival, and Poulton Gala.
Elsewhere in the town are events held at Jean Stansfield Park, and at Vicarage Park Community Centre.
Enjoy the Fylde Coast
Poulton is perfectly placed to visit or use as a base if you’re enjoying a holiday on the Fylde Coast – close to the bright lights of Blackpool, family friendly Cleveleys and historic Fleetwood.
In one direction it’s a short journey through beautiful fields and countryside to nearby Lytham and St Annes, and travelling the opposite way the whole of rural Over Wyre is yours to explore.
Head over Shard Bridge and follow the coastline through the countryside to explore Knott End, Glasson Dock and explore the coastline heading up towards Morecambe Bay.
Or follow the main roads and A6 to Garstang and Lancaster beyond.
