More about Seniors
At Seniors, we’ve got a passion for fish and chips. Not just any old fish and chips, but giving you the best fish and chips.
For us that means the best ingredients, sourced locally with skinned and boned sustainable fish from Fleetwood and potatoes grown locally. It means the best cooking methods so we use unsaturated fat to look after your health, and weigh the portions of fish to look after your wallet.
We’re passionate about the experience you get from our shops, so we try to make them as modern and pleasant an environment as possible, and the staff are all well trained and great at their jobs. But most of all we’re passionate about giving you value for money – so not only are our fish and chips great along with the shop experience, but the price you pay for them is a good one too!
Dominic and Alastair Horabin
Seniors is a family business, started by fish merchant Rick Horabin and managed now by sons Alastair and Dominic, with a loyal team of staff, many of which have been with the company for many years.

Seniors – National Fish and Chip Award Winners in 2012
Seniors at Thornton lifted the title to the UK’s best Fish and Chip takeaway in January 2012, making us not only the place to come for superb seaside fish and chips, but for officially the best fish and chips in the country!
On 17 January Seniors at Marsh Mill were crowned winners of the ‘2012 Independent Takeaway Fish & Chip Shop of the Year Award’ and were presented with the trophy by the celebrity chef, TV presenter and restauranteur Richard Corrigan at a ceremony at the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel in London. We were also finalists in the Independent Restaurant of the Year and Good Catch categories.
We secured one of the final 10 places in the competition, which were hard earned, after an unannounced visit from industry judges, where shops were assessed on a wide variety of judging criteria including; product quality, customer service, food preparation procedures, hygiene, innovation, staff training and development, promotional activity and approaches to sustainable sourcing.
The Awards are organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood. The Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award recognises the wealth of quality, value and choice offered by the nation’s much loved independent fish and chip shops.
