New Volunteers Needed for Friends of Jean Stansfield Vicarage Park
In order to be able to organise events, the Friends need more active volunteers to help out. If you could spare a couple of hours a month to make your local park come to life then please come along and help.
These events can only happen with the help of the community. If you are interested in helping or joining the committee, please get in touch.
More about the Friends
Working with Wyre Council we have drawn up a development plan. To date this has led to improvements in access and safety with improved lighting, wider pathways and a performance area.
A programme of planting has helped to make the park a more pleasant place to sit and relax and the multi-use games area provides a good range of exercise opportunities.
We have held a number of events in the park including a including A Picnic in the Park Day, Fun Days and the very popular Big Gig
The park has always been a popular area for families throughout the year and we are in the process of raising the funds to update and extend the children’s play area so as to provide an exciting and challenging setting for children of all ages which will promote their physical development and dexterity and provide the opportunity for them to extend their social skills through playing with others.
The Friends have received very good support from local business and we hope that this will continue, particularly with regard to funding the improvements to the play area.
Much of our efforts are devoted to fund raising, but we also work with local schools and community groups to take account of their views on how the park can be improved and to involve them in the development programme.
Subject to volunteers being able to help, we’d also like to be able to organise more events in the park and welcome suggestions for activities from all members of the community.
